That sledgehammer it carries is a 1,103cc V4 lifted from the Panigale, with 208 HP and 90.4 lbs-ft of torque. as stated, there are no apologies here in terms of design. The headlight shape was inspired by the Joker from DC Comics, the lower air dam contrasts with the upper cowling to make it look like shark opening its maw wide. There have been a whole bunch of influences to the design that Ducati have proudly stated. The only "standard" bit of the bike is the engine, a 1,285 Ducati Superquadro V2, although even that's been fettled and tuned to 205 HP. Any metals are exotic, from titanium to motorsports grade magnesium. The Alyen 988 is also one of the lightest bikes with this much power, due to extensive use of carbon fiber and carbon composites created with input from carbon fiber experts Pagani Automobili. Each customer sits on a frame with the seat, handlebars, and pegs all movable, and when they feel it's right, that's where the handlebars, seat, and pegs on their Alyen 988 will be, no matter how much adjustment is needed. We emphasize the base price, as each bike is essentially fitted to each customer, in a much more extensive and expensive form of Kawasaki's Ergo-Fit system. Absolutely everything they use for a bike is the best of the best, no matter the cost, so their bikes, such as the Alyen 988, can soar to base prices of $200,000 or more. The quality of the components are normally reserved for the £30k superbikes but look perfectly at home on the KRGT-1.Vyrus is a small Italian company that has focused entirely on making extremely limited, ultra-high tech motorcycles that are almost out of this world, hence the naming scheme of Alyen. A dry clutch that connects to a six-speed baker transmission that, you guessed it, is designed and built specifically for the bike and spec’d to the riders needs. Beautifully intricate, ISR levers and massive, six-piston, billet calipers bite down on floating discs. A fully adjustable Ohlins rear shock that’s also designed and spec’d specifically for the bike. Think of it as a production prototype.Īnd while we’re on the subject of spec, the components used to the make the bike are the things you’d grab if Supermarket Sweep took place at Motorcycle Live! Ohlins FGRT forks, specifically set up with the KRGT-1. The idea behind it is that you’ll never see two bikes with the same detailing and spec. You want hi-rise Renthal bars, you got it, matt finished BST carbon wheels, no problem. I could describe the finish of the bikes at the launch but it’s kind of pointless as each ARCH that leaves the California factory is bespoke, in both fit and finish.
